Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs
Artwork by Dominic Harris produced by Cinimod Studio.
Role: Software engineer & project manager.
From the series Disney’s first full-length animated feature film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs remains one of the most iconic Walt Disney films, and for its time, the most innovative feature length animation. It has been brought back to life as the inspiration behind Dominic Harris’ new artwork.
This new work displays these characters in an impressive technologically advanced interactive art object that can be enjoyed by all. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs are featured in a set of high-resolution flat video panels, comparative in scale with single/multiple user interactions.
These eight pieces offer a unique opportunity to interact with each distinct character, removing them their collective setting and allowing for engagement with signature personality traits. Using a combination of technologies, including complex logic based software systems, Harris has created an artwork that allows the viewer to directly effect and engage with each of the characters. Harris has chosen a unique reflective metallic colour block style to animate the characters, choosing to reinterpret their original hand drawn designs. This has afforded the artwork a timeless and effortless style that creates a statuesque appearance anchored in a design that is tangible today. The reflective metallic design acts a mirror to the viewer, whilst their presence in turn triggers the facets of their emblematic personalities.
The relationship between the viewer, Snow White and the Dwarfs is formed through mirrored gestural interaction and complex inter-character narratives, where their singular traits act as a catalyst to unique sequences of events between the characters themselves. Removed from the motion picture the characters have been re-imagined through unique distillations of their own personalities, which form a clever and engaging live representation.
